A frequently asked question. While listening to a speech at a coaching conference recently, I heard that if plain water was cool or sleep could be bottled, you could make a lot more money. The only reason sleep and water are not promoted more as recovery tools is that no one makes money from them. What is the real difference between drinking water and lucozade?

Can I say how delighted I was to hear that Fran Low firstly has undertaken to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats and secondly, that she is raising money for Diabetes UK (DUK) -the charity for people living with diabetes? Thank you.

As a mum of an aspiring athlete (rugby union) and a Doctor looking after people with diabetes, I spend a lot of time thinking about training, keeping fit, preventing diabetes as well as treating it.

Recent comments from Health Minister  Anne Milton about Doctors telling people they are fat have generated much comment. I don't have a problem with honest feedback- there is too little of it- as long as you then give some solutions to help the person concerned.
