Reith Lectures 2010

Posted On Tuesday, 08th June 2010 at 16:38

For those of you wondering how science fits into society, and how it will affect us all in the 21st Century, then you might like listening to the Reith lectures on Radio 4.

Sir Martin Rees, the Astronomer Royal, is delivering the series of lectures this year. In one part of the first lecture he talks about getting out and meeting people from outside his immediate discipline, just to get a different perspective on things.

In my mind, this is the type of person that seems rare in Academia, an expert in their field, but able to communicate and interact with the wider audience.  I have read 2 of his books which were good, and heard him speak at the Royal Institution 5 years ago.

Worth listening to, and you can download it onto MP3 players.
